There are 2 types of Playstation 3 controllers. The Sixaxis controller was released in 2006 with the original PS3 console. In 2007, the DualShock 3 was released.

Sixaxis

The Sixaxis controllers are lighter than the DualShock 3 controllers, due to the fact that they do not have rumble motors and as a result, no vibration function. The Sixaxis controllers are marked with a blue SIXAXIS on the top of the controller, offset.

DualShock 3

The DualShock 3 controllers are heavier than the Sixaxis controllers, due to the fact that they do have rumble motors and as a result, have vibration function. The DualShock 3 controllers are marked with a blue SIXAXIS and DUALSHOCK 3 on the top of the controller, offset.
